Recap: Syracuse 67, Cincinnati 52

Rick Jackson (15 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his 11th double-double of the season, leading the Orange to victory over Cincinnati today in the Carrier Dome.

After seeing its lead slip to four at halftime, Syracuse (18-0, 5-0) started the second half on a 16-0 run, keeping the Bearcats out of reach for the remainder of the game.

The Orange controlled the game inside, recording 10 blocks and out-rebounding Cincinnati (16-2, 3-2) 35-25.

Much-maligned freshman Fab Melo showed some promise today, with 6 points and 4 blocks. In one sequence, he blocked a shot on defense and sent the crowd into a frenzy with a thunderous dunk on the ensuing possession.

James Southerland provided a spark off the bench, making both of his threes and grabbing 8 rebounds.

Guards Scoop Jardine and Brandon Triche both chipped in with 11 points.

Dion Dixon led the Bearcats with 18 points, all of them coming from 6 three pointers.

This win puts the Orange into a tie with Pittsburgh atop the Big East standings. The two teams will meet Monday in Pittsburgh.
