Significance: Gut check time for the Orange. They're playing their second straight game against a ranked opponent, this time on the road. A win here would restore confidence and possibly revive the non-existant rivalry between these two teams.
Three Pointers:
- Which team bounces back?: Both sides are coming off disappointing losses in which they let a late lead slip away, Syracuse to Georgetown and Louisville to Notre Dame. The winner here will gain a solid victory over a ranked opponent, which could be a springboard to better things.
- Louisville is finally healthy: The Cardinals have had the injury bug all season, but things are starting to come together for them. Their two big men, Gorgui Dieng and Rakeem Buckles, should be back today after missing a combined 18 games so far this season. They also combine for nearly 15 points and over 12 rebounds per game.
- Can the Orange find consistency and balance on offense?: This has been a recurring problem for Syracuse. Rick Jackson and Kris Joseph get their points, but the other pieces don't always fit into place so nicely. Going against the second best offense in the Big East, Syracuse will need other guys to score if they want to keep up with the Cardinals.
Prediction: Seeing is believing. Until the Orange put together a performance worthy of a victory, I can't pick them.
Louisville 70, Syracuse 68
